O Sagrado e o Feminino: uma aproximação entre a Mariologia Católica e as Deusas Vaiṣṇavas

O papel social da mulher e as implicações de temas religiosos no dia a dia das pessoas perpassam as sociedades contemporâneas, particularmente, à vida das mulheres. Neste contexto que emergem, precisamente, as reflexões da teologia feminista. Com o despertar da consciência das mulheres em relação à sua subjugação, que altera questões até recentemente irrevogáveis na cultura ocidental, eclodiu uma maior discussão feita por mulheres sobre o Sagrado Feminino e suas possibilidades de vivência, sem a intermediação de homens. Para apresentar e correlacionar conceitos da Mariologia Católica e da Teologia Vaiṣṇava, este trabalho, tendo como premissa as problematizações feitas pela Teologia Feminista cristã, traz as interações entre o Sagrado Feminino nas tradições religiosas estudadas e suas comunidades. Em um contexto onde as hermenêuticas tradicionais, invariavelmente patriarcais, frequentemente dominam as religiões, desvelamos vozes e experiências das mulheres, muitas vezes relegadas a papéis secundários ou marginalizados. Partimos da pergunta: como o entendimento do Sagrado Feminino nas visões da mariologia católica e da tradição vaiṣṇava de bhakti, a partir das Ciências da Religião, pode auxiliar a minimizar a supressão social da mulher hoje? Assim, defendemos a tese de que uma compreensão teológica do Sagrado Feminino e da interação da mulher com este Sagrado implica em uma relação direta no tratamento social que elas recebem e em sua atuação dentro de uma tradição religiosa, em um círculo hermenêutico entre espiritualidade e existência. A aproximação entre a mariologia católica e a tradição de devoção do vaiṣṇavismo, sobretudo ancorada em suas duas principais deusas, Rādhārāṇī e Lakṣmī, justifica-se pela complementaridade que ambas as teologias exibem, acompanhadas de notáveis similaridades e diferenças. Não se trata de um estudo comparado, mas um trabalho por aproximação e diálogos, de natureza teórica, com ferramenta de pesquisa bibliográfica. Apresentamos uma breve introdução à Teologia Feminista, com sua necessidade de reinterpretação ou releitura dos textos sagrados que não apenas reconheçam a presença de mulheres fundamentais, mas que também promovam a dignidade e a atuação das mulheres dentro de suas tradições, impactando a vida cultural e social delas. Esta premissa está presente em todos os três capítulos. Uma análise sobre Maria nos Evangelhos canônicos, apócrifos, dogmas, símbolos e devoção popular, além de uma breve explanação sobre Maria Madalena formam o eixo cristão do trabalho. No lado hindu, temos uma análise sobre a mulher e o feminino nas Escrituras Védicas, seguido de uma apresentação sobre a religião da Deusa, o Śāktismo, e a história do culto às Deusas Rādhā e Lakṣmī e sua crucial importância nas tradições vaiṣṇavas Śrī e Gauḍīya, respectivamente. Realizando um diálogo de conceitos hindu-cristão, apresentamos a aproximação entre a Mariologia e as Deusas Vaiṣṇavas, com o Sagrado Feminino e as perspectivas feministas podendo atuar como catalisadores para a transformação social.

The Sacred and the Feminine: An approach between Catholic Mariology and the Vaiṣṇava Goddesses

The social role of women and the implications of religious themes in people's daily lives permeate contemporary societies, particularly women's lives. It is precisely in this context that the reflections of feminist theology emerge. With the awakening of women's awareness of their subjugation, which changes issues that were until recently irrevocable in Western culture, a greater discussion has emerged among women about the Sacred Feminine and its possibilities of experience, without the intermediation of men. In order to present and correlate concepts of Catholic Mariology and Vaiṣṇava Theology, this work, based on the problematizations made by Christian Feminist Theology, presents the interactions between the Sacred Feminine in the religious traditions studied and their communities. In a context where traditional hermeneutics, invariably patriarchal, often dominate religions, we reveal the voices and experiences of women, often relegated to secondary or marginalized roles. We start from the question: how can the understanding of the Sacred Feminine from the perspectives of Catholic Mariology and the Vaiṣṇava tradition of bhakti, based on the Sciences of Religion, help to minimize the social suppression of women today? Thus, we defend the thesis that a theological understanding of the Sacred Feminine and the interaction of women with this Sacred implies a direct relationship in the social treatment they receive and in their performance within a religious tradition, in a hermeneutic circle between spirituality and existence. The rapprochement between Catholic Mariology and the devotional tradition of Vaiṣṇavism, especially anchored in its two main goddesses, Rādhārāṇī and Lakṣmī, is justified by the complementarity that both theologies exhibit, accompanied by notable similarities and differences. This is not a composite study, but a work of approximation and dialogue, of a theoretical nature, with a bibliographic research tool. We present a brief introduction to Feminist Theology, with its need for reinterpretation or rereading of sacred texts that not only recognize the presence of fundamental women, but also promote the dignity and agency of women within their traditions, impacting their cultural and social life. This premise is present in all three chapters. An analysis of Mary in the canonical and apocryphal Gospels, dogmas, symbols, and popular devotion, as well as a brief explanation of Mary Magdalene, form the Christian axis of the work. On the Hindu side, we have an analysis of women and the feminine in the Vedic Scriptures, followed by a presentation of the Goddess religion, Śāktism, and the history of the worship of the Goddesses Rādhā and Lakṣmī and their crucial importance in the vaiṣṇava Śrī and Gauḍīya traditions, respectively. By carrying out a dialogue of Hindu-Christian concepts, we present the approximation between Mariology and the Vaiṣṇava Goddesses, with the Sacred Feminine and feminist perspectives being able to act as catalysts for social transformation.
