RESISTÊNCIA CULTURAL E JUVENTUDES NA PRAÇA DA ESTAÇÃO: ativismos urbanos e transformações espaciais a partir da cultura e do lazer

No centro das grandes metrópoles, coletivos urbanos vêm se apropriando dos espaços públicos atribuindo-lhes diferentes sentidos. Em Belo Horizonte, nos anos 2000, a Praça da Estação e edifícios históricos localizados nas suas imediações passaram por um processo de revitalização para transformar a região em um polo cultural. Simultaneamente, iniciaram-se apropriações por coletivos de cultura e movimentos sociais que ressignificaram a região como um lugar político cultural. Desse modo, foi realizado um histórico desses novos movimentos sociais urbanos na região e suas irradiações na cidade, como a constituição de lugares sociais carregados de sentidos: a própria Praça da Estação, o baixio do Viaduto Santa Tereza, o Teatro Espanca! e o Centro de Referência da Juventude (CRJ). Os resultados da pesquisa apontam que as apropriações dos coletivos de cultura associados à interação da juventude que frequenta o CRJ e o Teatro Espanca! na área da Praça da Estação criaram circuitos de arte e lazer formados majoritariamente por jovens da periferia, movimentando cultural e politicamente a região num processo de antigentrificação.

Culture resistence and youth at the Praça da Estação: Urban activisms and spatial transformations from culture and created art and leisure

In the center of large metropolises, urban collectives have been appropriating public spaces and they are giving them different meanings. In Belo Horizonte, in the 2000s, Praça da Estação and historic buildings located in its vicinity underwent a revitalization process to transform the region into a cultural center. Simultaneously, appropriations were initiated by cultural collectives and social movements that gave new meaning to the region as a cultural political place. In this way, a history of these new urban social movements in the region and their irradiation in the city was carried out. This description shows the constitution of social places charged with meanings: the Praça da Estação itself, the shallow of the Viaduto Santa Tereza, the Teatro Espanca! and the Centro de Referência da Juventude (CRJ). The results of the research point out that the appropriations of the cultural collectives associated with the interaction of the youth that frequents the CRJ and the Teatro Espanca! in the Praça da Estação area they created art and leisure circuits. This circuits are formed mainly by young people from the periphery, that culturally and politically movement the region in an anti gentrification process.
